Edna Schwartz, 91, of Vassar, and formerly of Bay City and Saginaw, passed away peacefully, May 16, 2010 at Tendercare of Frankenmuth.
Edna was born Oct. 13, 1918 in Flint, Mich. to the late Albert and Vera Kinney. She married the late Weldon Gibbs in September 1939, and together they raised six children. Edna spent most of her adult life in the Bay City/Saginaw area, tending to her family and assuming domestic responsibilities. After Weldon’s passing in 1959, Edna married Maurice Schwartz, who also preceded her in death. During Edna’s spare time and earlier years, she enjoyed sewing and ceramics.
Edna is survived by two children, Warren (Dorothy) Gibbs and Cheryl (Lawrence) Sage; sons-in-law, James Pierce, William Sierko and Jerry Bruce; daughter-in-law, Lorie Grauherr; siblings, Albert Kinney and Gwen Watz; 22 granchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was also preceded in death by her children, Lavone Pierce, Lynette Sierko, Sondra Bruce and Dennis Gibbs; siblings, Edith Gates, Kate Giori, Mary Silverthorne, Ken Kinney and Sylvester Kinney; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation for Mrs. Schwartz will take place from 1-4 p.m., Wednesday, May 19 at C.L. Forshee & Sons Funeral Homes, Inc., Twining Chapel. Services will be held at 4 p.m., with Clergy Dorla Talaga officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Valley Cemetery.
