HEWITT, Donald A. “Tom” – of Clio, age 87, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Roger Gedcke officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-4 and 6-9PM, and on Wednesday from 11 AM until time of services at 1 PM. Contributions may be made to Avalon Hospice or Bethany United Methodist Church.

Don was born February 4, 1923 in Vienna Twp. to the late Almon and Edith (McGillvary) Hewitt and was a resident of Clio his entire life. He served in the US Army during WW II. He then married Beverley Young on March 11, 1944. Mr. Hewitt retired from Grand Blanc Fisher Body in 1981 with 33 years seniority. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Clio Masonic Lodge #205 F & AM.

Surviving are: wife, Beverley; son. Craig Hewitt of Clio; 2 grandchildren, Jon Waterman of Clio, Joni (Jeff) Manz of Vanderbilt; 3 great grandchildren, Jaclyn, Jimmy and Dustin; brother, Gordon (Doris) Hewitt of Petosky; 2 sisters, Luella Allen and Marjorie Schoeppach both of Clio; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: his daughter, Deborah Waterman in 1981; 4 brothers and sisters, Russell, Thelma, Edna and Ralph.
