John W. Schumaker died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the age of 91. He was born June 25, 1919 in Riley Township, Clinton County Michigan the son of John and Frieda (Tiedt) Schumaker. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and a farmer. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling and having coffee with friends at various coffee shops in St. Johns.  John was a talented dowser (well witcher) and witched wells all over Clinton County.  On December 10, 1939 he married Rachel Warner and she survives him. Also surviving are two sons, John R. (Betty) and James (Kelly) all of St. Johns; six grandchildren, Suzanne (Richard) Williams of St. Johns, Beth (Steve) Larson of Alaska , John A. (Anita) Schumaker of Canton, MI, Jason (Angela) Schumaker of Appleton, WI, Jessica and Jenna Schumaker of St. Johns; eight great grand children and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Doris Martens. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at St. Peter Lutheran Church 8990 Church Rd. St. Johns with Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8PM Tuesday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
