Survived By: His wife Beverly, two sons and two daughters; Kyle (Sharon) Spiekerman, Scott (Sedesa) Spiekerman, Kelly (Greg) Morley, Vicky Rachow, eight grandchildren; Jamie, Jerrod, Justin, Chelsie, Joel, Austin, Samantha and Kylie, four great grandchildren; Breonna, Lucia, Antonio, and Serena, and many other loving family members and friends. Roy was predeceased by his brother Otto "Junior" Spiekerman.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 1, 2010.  Age 78 years.  Roy Ward Spiekerman was born May 26, 1932 in Saginaw to Otto and Mary (Timm) Spiekerman.  They predeceased him.  He married Beverly Boone on November 10, 1956.  She survives him.  Roy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was also a member and past commander of VFW Post 1859 for many years, and a member of American Legion Post 439, and the Carrollton Lions Club.  Roy had coached baseball for many years and with many leagues.  He retired as clerk from C&O Railroad in 1990. Roy loved to hunt and fish, but above all enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.   Surviving besides his wife Beverly, he leaves two sons and two daughters; Kyle (Sharon) Spiekerman, Scott (Sedesa) Spiekerman, Kelly (Greg) Morley, Vicky Rachow, eight grandchildren; Jamie, Jerrod, Justin, Chelsie, Joel, Austin, Samantha and Kylie, four great grandchildren; Breonna, Lucia, Antonio, and Serena, and many other loving family members and friends.  Roy was predeceased by his brother Otto "Junior" Spiekerman.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Francis Nursing Home for their loving care and compassion.
Funeral service will take place 3PM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Rd (South M-47). Chaplain Timothy Geese will officiate.  Military honors under the auspices of VFW Post 1859 will be observed at the funeral home at the conclusion of the funeral service.   There will also be a veterans memorial walk through 6 PM monday at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Bingham Township Cemetery in Traverse City on Friday July 9th at 1PM. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home on Monday from 12PM to 8PM, and on Tuesday from 11AM to the 3PM funeral. 
Memorial offerings may be given to St. Francis Home, Ronald McDonald House, Saginaw General Alumni, or VNA Hospice.
