JACOBS, Martin J. – of Birch Run, age 48, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be held 11AM Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Birch Run. Rev. Fr. John Sarge officiating. Burial to follow at Birch Run Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run on Sunday from 5-8PM and on Monday from 2-9PM with a 7PM Vigil service. Mr. Jacobs will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of Mass. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bell Tower Fund or the family.

Martin was born on September 11, 1961 Saginaw, Michigan to the late Virgil and Lorraine (Walther) Jacobs. He graduated from Birch Run High School in 1979. He was a farmer for his entire life. Martin belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served as an Usher. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, farming, watching The Food Channel and cooking. He was a loving and caring father, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed.

Martin is survived by: children, Kendra Jacobs of Clarkston, Calvin Jacobs of Birch Run; brothers, Jerry (Sherry) Jacobs of Birch Run, Ed (Kate) Jacobs of Birch Run, Paul Jacobs of Clio; sisters, Mary (Brady) Gray of Au Gres, Peggy (Phil) Hagerty of Sault Ste. Marie, Julie (Randy) Flathau of Frankenmuth, Rose (Brian) Irish of Birch Run, Joyce Diffin of Burt; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Gary Tanner; beloved dog, Poncho.
