Went home to be with the Lord on Friday July 23, 2010 after a brief illness.  Frank was born on November 30, 1924 in Saginaw to the late Kaiton and Sophia Brodowski.  He was married to Shirley Fechter on February 23, 1946; she predeceased him on April 28, 2008.  Frank worked for F. J. Boutell Co. in Flint as a car hauler for more than 25 years and retired in 1985.  He and Shirley then retired to Sun City, AZ where they enjoyed travel and sunshine.  They had three children; Tamra (Russell) Andrews, Vassar, MI, Sheryl (Bill) Hendley, Birch Run, MI, and Todd (Jo-Marie) Brodowski, Peoria, AZ.

 

Frank proudly served in World War II  in the Army Air Force (U.S.A.A.F.) as   a navigator/engineer on the B-24 liberator.  He flew more than 35 missions over Italy receiving numerous awards.  He enjoyed going to WWII reunions and air shows proudly wearing his air force hats.  Serving his country was the joy of his life.  Frank was a private pilot and a member of the Civil Air Patrol.  He was one of the original members of the Frankenmuth Airport Association, now the WM “Tiny” Zehnder Airfield in Frankenmuth.  He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth, the Birch Run V.F.W., and the Birch Run American Legion.  He enjoyed doing volunteer work for these veteran’s associations.

 

Besides his daughters and son, he leaves to cherish his memory; eight grandchildren, Randy Stafford, Scott (Karen) Stafford, Brady Stafford, Darin Stafford, Jerry Andrews, Sandi (Jerry) Mose, John (Heather) Andrews, Jay (Bridget) Andrews; thirteen great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brookelyn, Makenzie, Madison, Dean and Josh Stafford, Megan and Jared Mose, Halia, Emilee, Jakob, Zakary and Addison Andrews; sisters-in-law, Florence Brodowski, Katherine Schmidt, Marie Fechter, Eunice Fechter, Edie Fechter and several nieces and nephews.

 

Besides his wife Shirley, Frank was  preceded in death by; a daughter, Nancy and grandson Steven Stafford; his siblings, Mary, Joseph, Edward, Bernice, Tuffy Brodowski and Ann Neilson; brothers-in-law, Gene Schmidt, Tom Fechter, Clark Fechter, Larry Fechter.

 

Per his wishes cremation has taken place.  A Memorial  Service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Friday July 30, 2010 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth.    Frank’s family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Arrangement entrusted to the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Birch Run American Legion, the Birch Run V.F.W., or St. Lorenz Church.
