Kathleen “Kathy” L. Yaworski

Auburn, Michigan

On Monday November 6, 2017, at age 76, Kathy died peacefully in her home with her husband of 56 years at her side, ending her fifteen year battle with cancer. Kathy was a model of strength and faith, and a devoted servant of the Lord. She encouraged her children to make prayer an important part of their lives and was a firm believer in the power of praying the rosary. Her Catholic faith was the center of her life. This faith eases her family’s pain from the separation of death as they know death “is the only way to get to heaven.”

Kathleen was born in Bay City on August 4, 1941 to the late Damion & Lucille (Verbowski) Coyer, the fifth of eighteen children. Siblings surviving her include Mary Lee McLeod (Fred Nielsky), Nanette Coyer, Joe (Janet) Coyer, John Coyer, Gloria (Tom) Oslund, David Coyer, Daniel (Vickie) Coyer, Bill (Janet) Coyer, Mike (Debbie) Coyer, Sandy (Blake) Rossmiller, Ted (Donna) Coyer and Mark (Debby) Coyer.

On September 16, 1961, Kathleen married the love of her life Edward Yaworski at St. Valentine Church in Beaver Township. She remained a faithful and loyal wife all the days of her life. Together they had five children; John Yaworski, Karen (McCarthy), Rich, Edward Jr. (& Rebecca), and Jennifer Yaworski. Their children have blessed them with ten grandchildren; Ahleah & Eric Yaworski,Megan (Marko) Schubert & Amanda McCarthy, Kayla (Ryan) McIntyre & Amy (Paul) Jezowski, Andrew, Abigail, & Jonah Yaworski, and  Elizabeth Yaworski; and also three great grandchildren; Riley Seward, Taylin McIntyre and Scarlett Jezowski. Kathy always kept a special place in her heart for past daughter-in-laws Angie Claerhout and Diane Yaworski.

Kathy loved to have her entire family together, especially in the summer when they could sit on the back deck, throw horseshoes, walk the river, or go out in the canoe.  Kathy was talented in watercolor painting and enjoyed taking classes and creating pieces of art. She competed at Worlds in Calgary for horseshoes and was World Champion Class B Horseshoe Pitcher in 1997. She was also quite competitive in bowling and playing Piedro, and enjoyed archery, gardening, and knitting.

She was preceded in death by her son John Yaworski; her brothers Larry, Leonard and Peter Coyer; her sisters Cindy Coyer and Joyce Anderson, and her brother-in-law Bill Yaworski.
