Survived By: Bill is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Jean Groff (nee Look) of Tawas City; 3 children, Cindy (Clare) Earl, William J. (Mary Jane) Groff, and Eric (Andrea) Groff; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Mead, Danielle Wills, Camden and Haley Groff; 6 great grandchildren, Katelyn and Brandon Mead, JB Jr, Emmie, Cade, and Cooper Wills; sister, Donna (nee Look); 1 brother in law, Richard Look; 4 sisters in law, Lois Perry, Dorothy LaChapelle, Joan VanSumeran, and Millie Kaems.

William "Bill" Lee Groff, of Tawas City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Tawas Village Assisted Living, age 91 years.  Bill was born on October 25, 1926 in Berkley, Michigan to William and Lydia (Bertsch) Groff.  He worked for Michigan Gypsum Company for 23 years and retired as a Plant Manager in 1989.  He will always be remembered for his enjoyment of hunting and fishing, bowling, and tinkering and fixing things. He was formerly a former fireman with the Tawas City Fire Department, Tawas City council member, and an officer with the Tawas Area Police Authority.  His family and friends were such a big part of his life! Bill was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tawas City.  Bill is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Jean Groff (nee Look) of Tawas City; 3 children, Cindy (Clare) Earl, William J. (Mary Jane) Groff, and Eric (Andrea) Groff; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Mead, Danielle Wills, Camden and Haley Groff; 6 great grandchildren, Katelyn and Brandon Mead, JB Jr, Emmie, Cade, and Cooper Wills; sister, Donna (nee Look); 1 brother in law, Richard Look; 4 sisters in law, Lois Perry, Dorothy LaChapelle, Joan VanSumeran, and Millie Kaems.  Bill is preceded in death by father and mother, William H. and Lydia A. Groff; 2 sisters, Shirley Staudacher and Dorothy Rapp. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM     at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tawas City with Pastor Mark Lindloff officiating.  His family will welcome friends at church Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will take place immediately following the church service in the Tawas City Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors being rendered there.  Those wishing to express their condolences, may make a memorial contribution to the Emanuel Lutheran Church in his name.  An online guest registry is available at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com
