Survived By: his son Keith (Jeanine) Popour of Merrill, Debbie (Larry) Clark of Brant, Ruth Ann Popour of Hemlock, and Leonard E. Popour of Chesaning and his foster mother, Linda Deim. He had 4 grandchildren, Jason (Becke) Popour of Freeland, Jodie (Kurt) Horvat of Merrill, Brian and his fiancé Tina Kushion of Dewitt, Angela Polzin and her friend Rich Lutzke of Shields, He had 8 great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his very special friend Barbara Muessig of Freeland. George has two sisters, sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

            Passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile  accident at the age of 80. 

            George was born in Cooks, Michigan on June 19, 1930 sharing residence there and in St. Charles.  He married Harriet J. Garrison in 1948, enjoying 53 years of marriage before her passing on August 3, 2001.  He worked for Pierson Contracting of Saginaw as a road builder and later for Champagne and Marx retiring at the age of 72.  Everyone enjoyed his stores about hunting and fishing and his construction projects.

            He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son Keith (Jeanine) Popour of Merrill, Debbie (Larry) Clark of Brant, Ruth Ann Popour of Hemlock, and Leonard E. Popour of Chesaning and his foster mother, Linda Deim.  He had 4 grandchildren, Jason (Becke) Popour of Freeland, Jodie (Kurt) Horvat of Merrill, Brian and his fiancé Tina Kushion of Dewitt, Angela Polzin and her friend Rich Lutzke of Shields,  He had 8 great-grandchildren.  He will be sadly missed by his very special friend Barbara Muessig of Freeland.  George has two sisters, sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and one sister.

            The family would like to thank the Flight Care Technicians at Covenant and the staff at University of Michigan hospital, for the excellent care they gave George.

            Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m.  Friday, August 6, 2010 at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in St. Charles.   Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.  In Lieu of flowers please consider memorials to the Junction of Hope in care of Linda Deim where his son Leonard works.  www.casefuneralhome.com
