Our heartbreaking search for a beloved husband and father, Rick Giddings, came to an end on May 1, 2018. Rick was last seen doing what he loved, fishing on his canoe, on March 1, 2018 and never made it home. He was 60 years old.  Rick was born September 19, 1957 in Saginaw, the son of Betty (Snover) and the late Robert Giddings. He graduated from Vassar High School with the class of 1976 and spent most of his working career as a heavy machine operator, most recently for Angelo Iafrate Construction Company in Warren. He was united in marriage with the former Cathy Reidel on August 31, 1980 in Reese. Rick was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Caro as well as the Operators Union Local 324. He was an outdoorsman at heart and loved time spent hunting and fishing.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Giddings of Caro; two children and their spouses, Jodie & Keith Muska of Caro, Brian & Angela Giddings of Cheboygan; six grandchildren, Evelyn, Ben, Darrion, Greg, Matthias, and Richard; his mother, Betty Giddings of Vassar; six siblings and their spouses, Phyllis Enos, Ed & Dagmar Giddings, Cindy & John Adams, Nancy McDuffie, Rex & Candi Giddings, Tom & Linda Giddings; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Rick was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Roy Giddings.

In keeping with Rick’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of his life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Caro with Pastor Michael Wester officiating. The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Rick was always most comfortable in casual attire, and the family is extending an invitation to dress casually and wear camouflage if you would like. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Lighthouse Baptist Church.
