Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and dear friend went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2010. Age 89 years. He was born March 5, 1921 in Selma, Alabama son of the late Joe and Emma Browder. Joe was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.  Mr. Browder was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church and a committed servant on the Usher Board and Retirees Club for many years. He retired as a highway truck driver for Chevrolet Saginaw Parts Plant in 1982.  Joe enjoyed reading his bible and spending time with his family.  

His memory will be cherished by his children, Louise (John) Clark, Leon Browder, Joanne (Thurman) Willis, Reilly Browder, Ellen (Glen Jr.) Simon, Elaine (Willie) Houston, Marion (Jackie) Browder and Jacqueline Browder; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his dear wife, Beatrice Browder; three sons, Walter Lee Browder, Melvin Browder, and Kelvin Browder; one sister Emma Bryant; and a brother-in-law, Ervin Bryant.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Lutheran Home Care Agency.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street.  Rev. P. David Saunders will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Evans-Smith Funeral Home, 508 S. Washington Avenue.
