William, Bay City Bill, Sendtko went to be with His Lord on August 29, 2010, at Brian’s House with his family at his side. He was born on July 2, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late William and Lorris Sendtko.
Bill married Leandra Wegener on May 30, 1970. He was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church, Monitor, where he proudly served as Chairman. Bill taught Sunday School off and on for 40 years and he was instrumental in the establishment of Valley Lutheran High School. Bill worked for Dow Plastic Lined Pipe and Crane Resistoflex for 35 years. Until Bill became ill, he worked third shift at the Auburn 7-11 where he touched many lives and shared God’s word. Bill loved to cook and was known for his BBQ pork.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Leandra (Wegener) Sendtko. Three daughters: Kendra (Paul) Richard of Bay City; Kelly (Doug) Shaw of Gagetown; and Kara Sendtko of Saginaw. He has seven grandchildren: Andrew Richard and special friend, Sunna-Lee Weiss; Aric, and Alexia Richard; Charlie, Cal, and Amanda Shaw, and Will Sendtko. He has four siblings: Patricia Schlicker and special friend, Gene McArthur, of Bay City; Nancy (Bob) Owens and Bruce (Kris) Sendtko of Jacksonville, Florida; Karrie (Hal) Gatza of Bay City. Sister and Brothers-in-law: Gordon (Mary) Wegener and Oddie (Karen) Wegener of Auburn; Lonnie (Bob) Hensler of Freeland. Many nieces, nephews, and his extended family from the hunting shack in Sterling.
Bill is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Bonnie Jean, and his father and mother-in-law, Norman and Edna Wegener.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 2, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church (Salzburg & 8 Mile Rds.) Monitor Twp. Rev. David F. Sherry will officiate with burial to follow in Home
Cemetery, Monitor Twp. Bill’s family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-
Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. On
Thursday morning, Bill will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those plan-
ing an expression of sympathy, envelopes for “ A time to build” at Trinity Lutheran Church (Monitor),
Valley Lutheran High School and Brian’s House will be available at the funeral home. To know Bill Sendtko is to love him. If you didn’t love him then you didn’t know him.
