Chuck Potter, 59, of Midland, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning August 31, 2010 at the MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1950 in Midland, son of the late Elmer and Alice (Wing) Potter. He graduated from Midland High School in 1969 and continued to support the Chemics throughout his life. On November 1, 1986 he married Cheryl Marotzke. He retired from Dow Corning in 2002 after 31 years of service and continued to work as an Import/Export Compliance Consultant. Chuck enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, as well as spending time with friends at the Midland Moose Lodge.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Cheryl and their three sons Chad (Shelley) Potter, Michael (Nicole) Potter, and Tyler Potter; sister Naomi Granum; brother Herbert (Debra) Potter all of Midland; two grandchildren, Rylan and Brynn Potter, who affectionately called him Papa, as well as other family members and dear friends.
He was also predeceased by an infant son, Matthew James Potter. Funeral services for Chuck will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, September 3 at Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Father Pete Gaspeny will officiate, with private family graveside rites in Midland Cemetery. Chuck’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
