Frankenmuth, MI
Arnold F. Poellet (Andy), Frankenmuth, went to be with the Lord on September 7, at Covenant Medical Center, age 91. He was born November 30, 1918, the son of the late George and Mathilda Poellet. He was married to Helen Poellet, who pre-deceased him in 1988. He worked for Universal Engineering for seven years until he was drafted in the Army in 1942. Andy spent three years in the European Theater and upon returning, worked for Frankenmuth Mutual Insurance Company, retiring in 1981 after 34 years of service. He was a lifelong member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Laymen’s League, the American Legion, the Frankenmuth Conservation Club, and the Lincoln Woodchopper’s Club. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling. Many would remember Andy as a man who always had and enjoyed a cigar.
Surviving are one son, Jim (Shirley) Poellet of Onekama, MI, and one daughter, Barb (Tom) Gehl of Brookfield, WI; four grandchildren, Chris and Jason Chmielewski, Lauren and Carson Gehl, and one sister, Esther Hartwig, Frankenmuth. Besides his wife Helen, Andy was preceded in death by; his sisters and brothers, Lillian Finger, Linda Bartlett, Elmer, Ed, and Hilbert Poellet.
Funeral services will take place at 10:15 A.M. Saturday September 11, 2010 at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 A.M. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church with burial between services in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Andy’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 3-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service.
