G oldie Elizabeth Weber, 94, of Akron, died, early Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2011, at Bay Regional Medical Center.  She was born on June 18, 1916 in Fairgrove, daughter of the late Austin and Hazel (Reid) Houghteling.  Goldie was united in marriage on March 21, 1936 to Frank Weber.  He predeceased her on May 6, 2006.  She was a member of Fairgrove United Methodist Church, enjoyed sewing, flower and vegetable gardening, spending time with family, sitting on her deck with her great grandchildren waiting on her hand and foot.  Earlier in her life, Goldie enjoyed playing many different games with her children, but not until the work was completed.  She had a very treasured friend, Maggie Bauman whom she travel and spent many hours together.  Surviving are her three daughters, Janice and Jim Obertein of Kimball, MI, Judy and Pat Campbell of Apache, Junction, AZ., Ruth Ann Rayl of Akron; grandchildren, Dennis and Marla Obertein, Jill and George Sivec, Debra Adams, Scott Obertein, Michael and Donna Campbell, Don Campbell, Alan Rayl, Ann and Marty Ruhlig, James and Stacey Rayl, Larry Rayl, David and Christy Rayl; 31 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; sister, Wilma and John Wagner of Fairgrove; sisters-in-law, Margaret Houghteling of Caro, Violet Weber of Caro, Katie Roth of Vassar, Mary Downing of Au Gres and great nieces, Dana and Mark Carsten and Jennifer and William Heida, who referred to her as grandma.  In addition to her husband Frank and parents, Austin and Hazel, Goldie was predeceased by her brothers, Clare, Marvin, Ernie and Jack Houghteling; one sister, Maxine Wiergowski; son-in-law, Robert Rayl and grandson, Jeffrey Campbell.  Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2011 from Fairgrove United Methodist Church.  Pastor Daniel Gonder will officiate with a private family committal service later at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove.  Goldie’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese on Sunday from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Fairgrove United Methodist Church or the donor’s favorite charity.  If you are unable to visit with the family in person you may send your condolences through www.waresmithwoolever.com
