OLIVER, Alfred D. – Age 81, of Montrose, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Brian’s House in Davison. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Pastor Doug Armstrong officiating. Interment to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday and Tuesday from 5-9PM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Lake Road Baptist Church.

Alfred was born March 15, 1928 in Arkansas to the late Charles and Ester (Lloyd) Oliver. He has lived in Montrose for 32 years. Alfred married Grace “Bettie” Davis on May 25, 1967. He was employed by General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1982. Alfred was a very skilled mechanic. He was very devoted to Lake Road Baptist Church and belonged to the church’s youth and building committees. Alfred was a very caring and giving person who will be deeply missed.

Alfred is survived by: wife, Bettie; daughter, Vickie (Gaylord) La Londe of Texas; son, David (Lisa) Oliver of Montrose; step-children, Maribeth (Gene) Carpenter of Flint, Robert (Paulette) Maloney of Flushing, Nanette (Dan) Venters of Flint; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bruce (Peggy) Oliver of Mt. Morris, Jim (Anna) Oliver of North Carolina. Alfred was also preceded in death by: son, Brent Oliver; step-son, Michael Maloney; brother, Charles Oliver; sister, Maxine Watson.
