Survived By: She is survived by three children and their spouses; Judy and Joseph Vajda, John and Pat French Jr. and Rex and Vera French all of Essexville, ten grandchildren; Troy, James, Jay, Tina, Ranae, Thomas, Rex, Krystal, Cindy and Jason, seventeen great grandchildren, one sister; Doris Stiles of Flint, one brother; Lyle Woodruff of West Virginia and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; John L. French Sr., two brothers; Clarence and Roy Woodruff and four sisters; Virginia Dowdy, Lilly Mae Woodruff, Bonnie Mauck and Lorraine Lowery.
Affiliations: She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church, retired from Bay Regional Medical Center as a cook. Evelyn enjoyed crocheting and playing cards.

Mrs. French passed away early Tuesday morning October 27, 2009 at Bay Regional Medical Center.  Age 83 years.  She was born January 4, 1926 in Bay City and has been residing in Essexville  with her son; Rex  daughter-in-law; Vera and grandson; Rex.  She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church, retired from Bay Regional Medical Center as a cook.  Evelyn enjoyed crocheting and playing cards.

Funeral Services will take place Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Peoples Baptist Church.  Officiating will be Rev. Daniel R. Hester with interment following in Elm Lawn Park Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m..  Mrs. French will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for the American Heart Association or the donorís favorite charity will be available at the funeral home.
