Mr. Joseph Anthony Maurich, age 93 years of Akron, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011. He was born on December 26, 1917, the son of Anthony and Mary (Ceaser) Maurich.

He married Margaret Parsell, who preceded him in death in 1988. Joe had been retired from Eaton Manufacturing Company in Vassar, where he was a welder. In earlier years he had worked in the coal mine in Unionville, and had owned and operated 'Joe's Locker', a full service grocery store in Akron.

Surviving are a daughter, Naida Heinzman of Akron, and a granddaughter, Adele (John) Lorrison, also of Akron, a great-grandson, Adam Nowlen, and great-great-grandchildren, Haidyn and Kyle Nowlen.

The family will receive friends at the Unionville Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 2, between the hours of 2pm and 6pm. In keeping in with Joe's wish, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service has not been scheduled.
