Gerald “Jerry” C. Born, 74, of Reese, died early Wednesday morning, October 12, 2011 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. He was born on January 28, 1937 in Pigeon, son of the late Henry W. and Mabel (Damm) Born. Jerry served in the United States Air Fore and married the former Carol Woern on August 29, 1959 in Reese. She predeceased him on May 3, 2005. In addition to his wife Carol, his son, Rodney predeceased in 1966. He was and employed and retired from Saginaw Steering Geer and then owned and operated an automotive recycling business until his retirement in 2005. In his younger years, Jerry had enjoyed this annual camping and fishing trips across the bridge with his family. Surviving are his two children, Terry and Carol Born of Allenton and Doreen Born of Saginaw; grandchildren, Ryan, Aaron and Ashley Born; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Don and Vicki Born of Elkton, Arlen and Marilyn Born of Frankenmuth, Janice and Rick Bradley of Midland, Renee and Tim Biskupski of Arizona, Randy and Terri Born of Elkton and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2011 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese. Pastor Jon Gougeon of Reese United Methodist Church will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Jerry’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
